If you answered YES, you are wrong!
No one can be good enough to earn eternity in
Heaven with God, no matter how hard he tries. No One!!! It's simply impossible because God
condemns ALL sin. Only perfection (holiness) is permitted. What is sin? Anything that God
has said is sin. Anything but perfection!! For all have sinned, and come short
of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
Pretty high standard, huh? Too high for us mere
humans. And that may seem unfair, until we remember two things:
One: God is God and sets the
standards. He alone has the right to do so since He created everything that is or every
was, or ever will be. Who are you going to argue with? God always has the last word, as He
had the first word.
Two: God, in His love and mercy
provided a way for us to be reclaimed to innocence. Once mankind chose to sin, we earned
the punishment for sin, which is death. Eternal separation from God.
But, what if someone could die in our place?
God's glorious plan for our salvation provided a sacrifice who was perfection. Jesus,
God's Son and himself God was also a human. Being justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:24
This is indeed Good News.
