It is a common human foible to search for peace in their lives outside
of themselves. They believe that peace is a place they can find. They believe
that peace can be provided for them by someone else. While it is true that some
places are more peaceful than others, and some people are more peaceful to be around than
others, true lasting peace can only be created in your life by you.
Peaceful is as peaceful does. If you have surrounded yourself with
people who are disruptive, you have only yourself to blame.
Eliminate the relationships that are keeping you from a peaceful life, and replace them
with the peaceful kind. If you are knee-deep in situations that are chaotic, you may
need to stop and ask yourself why this is. How are you attracting these problems?
And it is useless to try and tell me you did not attract them! You did,
consciously or subconsciously, with your beliefs, your expectations and/or your
self-esteem issues.
Peaceful is as peaceful does. Are you giving yourself the time you
deserve? Everyone needs down time on a regular basis. It could be as simple as
taking a long bath with the bathroom door locked, or getting up a little earlier every day
to sit outside and watch nature. Avoiding disruptive influences goes a long way to
creating peace. Stay away from the violent movies and television shows. Listen to
peaceful music, read peaceful books, watch uplifting programs and movies.
Peaceful is as peaceful does. Try creating a sacred space where you live.
Indoors or out, it doesn't really matter. Large or small is
immaterial. The key issue is that it is yours, you create it and use it for peaceful
purposes. Decorate it with beautiful things and never take your problems into it,
unless your purpose to is solve them. Make sure that everyone in the house knows about
this space and respects it, and your time in it.
Looking outside of yourself for inner peace is never going to work.
In the words of Gandhi, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
And Marilyn Ferguson says, "The greatest revolution in our generation is
that of human beings, who by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the
outer aspects of their lives."
You have the control, you have the power to create anything in your life. Why not
create peace?
